Hecla Island - our family, summer workers, and friends having a picnic on the shore of Lake Winnipeg.
Canoeing on the Icelandic River  - Riverton

Check out the parks in the area.  We are located within 1/2 hour drive of 4 provincial parks. There are several fine Bed & Breakfasts if that is your fancy.  On Hecla Island there is the Solmundson Gesta Hus with a tranquil lakeside view. Radisson Hecla Oasis Resort, also on the island, may have just what you are looking for!

Gimli: take a walk on the harbor and enjoy the art on the seawall, Icelandic museum, and other “by the lake” sights, sounds, and tastes. Try the new pub and restaurant on Center Street where you can order a variety of our goods served up with great appeal.

Arborg: Visit the fine multi-cultural museum and shops.

Riverton and area: take a walk along the Icelandic River, see the moose monument and the restored train station, and take time to browse in the stores.  The Sandy Bar beach is a lovely, quiet spot. Then head north to our farm – Road 141 N. We are 10km N of Riverton. Look for the tall silo to the right of the road.  There are fantastic walking trails at the Grassy Narrows Marsh and on Hecla Island.  We hope you can enjoy what this area has to offer!
